Rhododendron Arboreum

Since spring is coming… seems it’s already here… I wanted to share a picture I took in 2010 when we first moved into this house.

This is, what I believe to be, a Rhododendron Arboreum.

Rhododendron arboreum is the official flower of Nepal and is found in Bhutan, China, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Its name means “tending to be woody or growing in a tree-form”.

They also do extremely well here in BC.

This thing is more like a tree than a bush, until we cut it back anyway. It’s coming back like a weed (a good weed!) and I hope it will bloom again this year. The flowers are super pretty.

Yes, S likes gardening too.
